Togainu no Chi Anime Announced, Promo Trailer Streamed

Back in the last week of March, it was announced by Nitroplus that they’d be adapting their popular brutal boys-love game, Togainu no Chi, into an anime. This announcement came as part of the 5-year anniversary celebration of the company’s Nitro+Chiral line of boys’ love games (congrats to them for that too!).

The anime’s website is now streaming the promo trailer – chock full of bloody confrontations, gritty dark streets and the familiar cast of brooding pretty boys to confront each other in their drug-fueled battles, it certainly looks to have all the fixings for a good animated version of the story. If you have trouble viewing the trailer on the website, it’s also available to watch on YouTube.

Originally a game (which currently hasn’t been licensed for English distribution), the series has also been adapted into several manga series, a light novel, various snazzy action figures and a number of drama CDs. Currently Tokyopop is releasing the seven-volume manga series in English.

While it generally goes without saying that the anime looks pretty darn snazzy, it’ll be interesting to see if it gets picked up for English license one day. While it’s far less likely the original game will see English release, the licensing of the manga and the popularity of the merchandise could certainly bode well for the anime. What do you think? A potentially good anime-sell or a little too niche for taking the chance?

Format: Downloadable eBook

Synopsis: “Jinady is thrust into the lurid intrigue of the human settlement protected by incubi. He’s hearing the name Rowan frequently. Who is this mortal who’s managed to get under the skin of a demon general, an incubus school teacher, the gruff demon Scor, and even the noble Figaru. Figaru deals with his own chaos back at the settlement, despite not having slept for weeks and having fed very little. When his demon general Vandrel tries to cast a spell on him the incubus decides he can punish Vandrel and feed at the same time.”

The opening chapter of this part utilizes some terminology within the context of the story that’s a little difficult to keep track of at first. Now taking place in the settlement that the troop who rescued Jinady have been travelling to, there’s some obvious societal set-ups and rules to get straight in order to understand the ramifications of what’s occurring. Whether it’s the decision to cast young men in the role of soldiers or as mates to the incubus who defend them, there’s a very set-in-place structure to the lives everyone here lives.

Rating: Mature (18+)
Release Date: January 19, 2010

Synopsis: “Jinady starts to lower his guard with his mismatched group of rescuers. He’s even beginning to have his opinion toward incubi change due to the noble demon Figaru. He doesn’t pay as much attention to the other demon with them: the crass incubus Scor. Scor has noticed Jinady, however. He thinks the boy is too pretty not to have a taste of during their journey.”

The recently freed Jinady continues his journey to a safe haven along with the group who rescued him. Things are a little slow going in this chapter on the event-scale but it means more time for getting to know the characters – or at least them getting to know each other. The gruff Scor calls Jinady out for a midnight-rendezvous and Figaru finds incubus-relief with a passing demoness – but the real going-ons are between Jinady and Figaru whose budding attraction begins to take shape.

Picking up where part one left off, Jinady is now staying amidst the group of humans and incubus who’ve rescued him from his mountain-side prison. Defending themselves against dangers as they make their way to a settlement for the humans they save, it becomes quickly evident that everyone in the group has their own reasons for being there and their own roles to play.

There’re a number of new characters to keep straight these chapters. Each of the cast is fairly distinct in their descriptions and personalities but not all of them make enough impact to be immediately unforgettable just yet.

The (Saihoshi) Redemption is Coming

Saihoshi Redemption

Fans of the two-part boys’ love fantasy story, Saihoshi, have no doubt been looking forward to the sequel series due out this month. Only a few days left! Spanish anime/manga website, Ramen Para Dos, has a lengthy post on this upcoming sequel to KOSEN’s Saihoshi, titled Saihoshi Redemption. The article is in Spanish but can be read with general ease using Google’s translation tool.

Little has been known about the sequel series past its novel format (as opposed to a manga-format of the original books). Recently Yaoi Prose, who will be digitally publishing Saihoshi Redemption in English, has posted a synopsis:

“It’s been two years since Sastre, The Guardian of the North, decided to betray the Order and run away with Kaleth, servant and lover of prince Anel. Since then, they live in an isolated cabin in the forest at the East, Yinn’s territory, the Guardian who helped them in their escape.

However, Sastre’s betrayal has come to light, so the Order sends to pursue the offenders to the only warriors who can defeat a Guardian: the fearsome Executors.

Now, Sastre, Kaleth and Yinn will find themselves bound to redime their acts in a journey that will reveal the obscure secrets of the Order and will put their feelings to a test.”

Ramen Para Dos’s article shares along with the synopsis a couple character bios and some shiny new artwork. It also lists the different features that KOSEN will be offering on their Saihoshi website along with the story itself. Some of these things include a blog, purchasable merchandise, extra artwork and lots of opportunity for fan interaction. The art, site access and novel will be downloadable for free in Spanish.

Currently Saihoshi.com is a countdown to the website’s launch which is set for January 15, 2010.

KOSEN are two Spanish artists who’ve been creating comics under the name together since 1998. English global-boys love publisher, Yaoi Press has published their series Saihoshi and the one-shot Stallion. Yaoi Press’s sister company Yaoi Prose will be digitally releasing Saihoshi Redemption in English later in the month.

Yaoi Prose Offers Incubus Master Part One For Free

As of Thursday, YaoiProse.com is offering for free the first part of their recently released eBook Incubus Master. Due to detailed sexual scenes and some violence, Incubus Master is for adults only.

The current free preview includes chapters 1-3 of the erotic boys’ love story that follows a young man named Jinady who is kept enslaved in the mountains by a band of incubus – demons who feed off the sexual energy of their partners. The preview, presented in HTML format, comes with the story’s cover illustration and the option to purchase a full version that includes a second mature-rated image.

You can read what I thought about Incubus Master so far in my review of these initial three chapters.

Future installments of Incubus Master will be available via the Yaoi Prose website and EverythingYaoi.com for purchase. Part two is slated for release on January 12, 2010.

Whore of Turfan’s One Year Web Comic Anniversary!

This past December, the web comic Whore of Turfan reached its one year anniversary – congratulations to the team! Myself included so a note on the semi-shameless self-promotion :)

In celebration we’ve got a snazzy new layout to the site as you can see but it doesn’t end there. The layout itself will still be tweaked with some great new graphics-in-progress this weekend plus look forward to some new media added to the site including banners, wallpaper and avatars.

With the new layout and tided navigation, there’s never been a better time to head over there and check out our last year’s worth of pages as the plot begins to thicken. I only vaguely know what’s coming but I can tell you it’s going to be one heck of a story – alas even the help must wait to find out! But it’s totally worth it.

I hope readers old and new enjoy the new website look and keep coming back for the new pages each week. Here’s to a great 2010!

Review: Incubus Master (Part One)

Just in time for the New Year, Yamila Abraham – owner of Yaoi Press – has officially launched YaoiProse.com. Available to purchase on this site will be digital light novel-style boys’ love stories complimented by artists and characters familiar to fans of Yaoi Press’s library of current titles.

Their first release is Incubus Master:

Incubus Master is an erotic ebook written by Yamila Abraham (Winter Demon, Dark Prince) and illustrated by Barbara Apostolico (Cain, Winter Demon). It will be serialized in eight parts over the coming weeks. Each section will have 6,000 to 7,500 words and a color illustration.”

Proceeds from the works purchased on YaoiProse.com will go towards funding future series, including sequels to both KOSEN’s Saihoshi and Yamila’s four-part fantasy series, Dark Prince.

I had the opportunity to read the first part of Incubus Master (my review you can read under the cut) which includes chapters one to three, totaling about 6000 words. It’s enough to feel like a pretty substantial one-sitting read without any hefty time investment. And if you’re in it for the sex scenes then you should be satisfied regardless .
