Digital Manga goes Beta

Look at all the pretty colours!

Just when I was started getting really curious over the now three-day disappearance of 801Media‘s website, I pop on over to eManga (Digital Manga’s hubsite, if you will) only to discover it’s gotten a complete overhaul! What was once the corporate stop for Digital Manga (which is now at digitalmanga.com), is now a content-by-registration website full of samplings from some of their books.

There isn’t much there now (I own almost all of them, poo!), but it looks like a fun little set-up. I’m currently playing around with the manga viewer and I like the idea of getting to read a sample chapter of future books. Definately helps my purchase choices! It works on a point system, points which registers will be able to purchase and then use towards “time based rentals” of digital books. Pay to rent a digital manga book for 72 hours? Interesting idea to see utilized like this. Two rentals = eternal purchase. Nice touch! Doesn’t beat having the book but certainly a neat alternative, cheaper too.

And I love the little robot logo/mascot.

Move aside, there's a new bot in manga town.
