X-Men Shoujo-fied

Super quick post today for the curious: Amazon’s posted the cover of X-Men Misfits, volume one. It’s a shoujo-styled X-men story, a complete retelling taking place in a sister world to the X-men multiverse. The series is being drawn by ANZU, the artist behind DelRey’s recent release, The Reformed.

  1. Why is the first thing that comes to my mind when looking at that cover "Vampire Knight"?

One girl, two guys, school uniforms and toss in some whimsical expressions, I'd say there's some definate 'Vampire Knight' comparisons to be made. I can definately see it. From the sound of the story's synopsis and the target audience, it could be similiar in more ways than the cover's vibe.

As a long time X-men fan, I like what I see- and hey, school uniforms have always been a part of X-men ^_^ Though I think they could of put in a little yellow/blue…. still, the use of the standard X-symbol is good.

I think it may go for a lighter tone then Vampire Knight- most of Dave's output is humour, and Raina's tends toward it. Plus, they have a Beast whose mildy Totoro-esque in it.
